About Me
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
My priorities are in establishing a rapport with the students and creating a comfortable and encouraging environment for the student to grow and enjoy learning. I also feel it’s important to engage the students, so I cater my lessons towards student interests, such as music, cooking, sports, etc.
Additionally, I make sure to include multiple visuals and activities that engage auditory, visual, and kinesthetic interactions.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
After graduating from U.C. Berkeley with a B.A. in Psychology, I spent the summer receiving my TESOL/TEFL/TESL Certificate (100-hour) from Oxford Seminars.
While in college, I taught a DeCal (Democratic Education at Cal) once a week to a class of about 50 students. I developed my own curriculum and lesson plans for the course and it counted towards 1 unit of credit for the students.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I recently moved back from teaching English in Thailand for two years. I have experience teaching classes of 25-50 students from 1st grade to adult. I have also tutored individuals ranging in ability from beginner to conversational. I am comfortable teaching grammar and all four communication skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing)
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I enjoy playing ukulele and am working on learning Spanish in my free time. I also love reading, art, playing soccer and other sports, and self-improvement.
In my effort to continually learn, I’ve picked up Cosmos by Carl Sagan and have started watching CrashCourse by John Green on YouTube.
