EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
My philosophy has always been that each child is a unique being, with abilities that may need to be developed. I believe that each child has the ability to reach his potential, but may need guidance and a person who cares about helping the student to achieve this goal.
I believe that education is about connecting with a student in a way that makes that student want to succeed no matter what.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I graduated from the State University of New York with a degree in Education K-9; concentration in mathematics. I completed my Masters Degree in Curriculum Development at Castleton State College in Castleton, VT.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have just retired from a 33 year career in teaching. I have taught fourth grade in a Catholic School and the Gifted and Talented Program at Ticonderoga Central School in Ticonderoga, NY. Most of my career has been teaching mathematics at the Middle School Level, while also teaching an accelerated Integrated Algebra class. My last 4 years have been teaching Integrated Algebra at the High School level. I have also taught different math classes at a local Community College.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
My extra-curricular activities have been many: cub scout leader, Student Council Advisor, mentor program, Drama club assistant, PTO, and committee work in the school environment. My committee work has consisted of Building Leadership Teams, Behavior Teams, Excellence and Accountability Team, and the Superintendent’s Advisory Team.
