Warsaw District and Curriculum
The Warsaw School Corporation has implemented the Common Core Standards which cover the learning expectations in Math and Language Arts. The curriculum is designed to focus on the subjects’ key topics and deepen student knowledge and ability with each school year. This curriculum design has also been employed in other subject areas as well, and students are able to achieve high levels of mastery in their subjects. The curriculum contains objectives which ensure students are prepared for both college and career following high school.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Warsaw District Curriculum
The science curriculum teaches students to use observation skills and ask appropriate questions about their environment. Students will also gain the ability to use the design process to find answers to these questions. Classes available to students include biology, chemistry, physics, human anatomy & physiology, and earth & space science. The curriculum also focuses on college preparation. Instruction on topics that are included on the SAT and ACT occurs in many high school courses.
Physical fitness and motor skills are enhanced in physical education courses. Rhythm and spatial awareness can also be improved in dance classes. In health and wellness classes, students learn how to prevent disease and identify harmful influences on personal health. Personal wellness is also developed through elective classes in music and theatre, where students have the opportunity to express their creative side.

- Warsaw Students Win Big At the Northern Lakes Conference Championships - The Warsaw track teams won their ninth and fourth consecutive team titles at the Northern Lakes Conference track championships. 17 boys and 11 girls made the ALL-NLC lists, as well. Great job!
- School Dance Raises Funds For Memorial Fund - Edgewood Middle School held its school dance “A Night to Dream” and plenty of students showed up. The dance raised funds for the Jaden Stout Memorial Fund and over $2,000 was obtained.
- Achieve3000 Rewards Harrison Elementary Students - A fourth grade class at Harrison Elementary beat out other Warsaw Community Schools to win Achieve3000’s online reading contest. The prize included a certificate and a pizza party for the winning class.

Chalk Talk: How Music Helps the Learning Process
Music is universal and it can transcend many boundaries, such as language and emotion. It can be used to enhance the learning process in a variety of ways as well. For example, foreign music can arouse the interest of students as they hear music from cultures other than their own. It can also be used to teach concepts such as patterns. Clapping simple rhythms can provide another way of explaining patterns as they are seen on paper. Another way that music can be useful when teaching is when songs are used as representations. Using songs that contain words that express elements or describe certain events from history can provide students with a way of retaining information. This information can be reinforced when teachers ask questions about the society portrayed in the songs. Finally, music can provide breaks in monotony or refresh the mind before a student begins or continues to study.
