Plymouth District and Curriculum
Plymouth Public Schools operates four schools including two elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. Viewing curriculum as an evolving piece of instruction and student achievement, Plymouth Schools works to meet the needs of the student population and utilizes best practices in education. All core content in Plymouth Public Schools is being revised to integrate the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Focusing on higher-level thinking, research skills, evidence based arguments, and authentic learning, CCSS works to prepare all students to become career and college ready upon graduation.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Plymouth District Curriculum
The Plymouth Public Schools is working to integrate technology and instruction. Several computer labs and interactive white boards are being using at the elementary level and laptop labs are utilized at the secondary level. Beginning in elementary school, students explore a variety of academic content areas such as mathematics, reading, language arts, science, and social studies. Each classroom teacher is challenged to create learner-centered and technology-infused instruction to challenge all students to the greatest extent possible within the classroom.
Those subject areas along with world languages, technology, and business education carry through middle and high school with career-oriented electives as well. In addition, students are exposed to physical education, library/media, art, and music to enhance their educational experience. The opportunities for sports, academic competitions, community service, and arts groups also help students to determine and achieve their goals.

Keeping Informed: Recent Plymouth Educational News
- Athletic Participation Requirements - If your student is interested in trying out for any sport activity at the middle or high school, please make sure you schedule your appointment for a physical exam. It is a requirement before trying out for the team so make sure you set up an appointment as soon as possible with your doctor or the school doctor.
- Public Safety Initiative - Officer Walsh of the Plymouth Police Department presented some safety tips during a recent meeting. During the Kids and Cops in the Middle meeting, Officer Walsh gave tips concerning stay at home safety, internet safety, and safety walking home.
- Local Prevention Council Survey - The Plymouth Center School is sending home a survey for parents. Through the Local Prevention Council, the survey for parents is regarding healthy youth behaviors. The data collection will be used to assist in programs in the community that help youth make healthy decisions and personal choices.
