Stafford District and Curriculum
Working to enable students to reach their full potential, Stafford Public Schools provides a challenging and motivating curriculum that meets the needs of all students. Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Stafford District Curriculum
The elementary math curriculum helps students build the skills and work through different problems in preparation for more advanced challenges. High school students are offered algebra, geometry, statistics, and probability. Students earn how to summarize and interpret data with multiple quantitative variables. Reasoning with shapes and their attributes is another Students primary aspect of mathematics study. In algebra, students also learn how to create equations that describe relationships between numbers.
Stafford Public Schools utilizes the Connecticut Common Core State Standards in Reading and Mathematics and the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium for student assessment. Students in the Stafford Public School District are assessed using the Connecticut Smarter Balanced Assessment in Grade 3 through 8 and 11. The district supports the career and college readiness initiatives for its students.

Keeping Informed: Recent Stafford Educational News
- Students Perform Well on State Science Test - Stafford saw success on the 2014 CMT and CAPT Science results. Stafford High outperformed the state average for students reaching proficiency for the 8th year in a row, and grade 8 outperformed the state average as well. Go Stafford!
- Stafford Public Schools Awarded Two Large Grants - Stafford Schools received two grants from the State Department of Education. The Technology grant awarded $572,962 to increase technology in the classroom. The PASS grant totaled $188,252 and provides for after-school programming.
- Local Students Attend the CABE/CAPSS Convention - Stafford Public Schools represented at the CABE/CAPSS Convention. Two student representatives and two county employees participated in workshops and the luncheon. All enjoyed a great time.

Learning styles or preferences group common way that people learning. While everyone has a mixture of learning styles, most people have a dominant learning style with the other styles used far less. The three main types of learning styles are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. Visual learners are those who learn through seeing. For a visual learner, a picture is worth a thousand words because information comes to life whenever it can be seen. Visual learners prefer to see things written down. They find maps, charts, graphic organizers and other visual tools to be helpful and effective during the learning process. If you are a visual learner, you will find yourself taking notes, making diagrams, watching videos, and using flashcards. You probably hate simply listen to information without having something to look at concerning the content. If you are a visual learner in your family, make sure that the information is being written down and their teachers are best meeting the needs of the visual learners by making the content come alive in pictures or graphic organizers.
