Kingsbury District and Curriculum
Residents of the Town of Kingsbury will attend the Hudson Falls Central School District (HFCSD) for UPK-12 education. The district’s facilities include one kindergarten center (UPK-K), one primary school (1-3), one intermediate school (4-5), one middle school (6-8), and one high school (9-12). The HFCSD curriculum follows the New York State Education Department (NYSED) requirements, as well as the recently adopted Common Core State Standards (CCSS). These standards emphasize unified teaching in English language arts and mathematics, with planned future improvements in all core subjects.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Kingsbury District Curriculum
Each grade level curriculum is designed to prepare students for future learning, whether students move on to the next grade level, school, or steps in their lives. The ultimate goal is to prepare students for beyond the education they offer. The district is small enough that each student receives individual attention, but is still large enough that students have many choices when it comes to their in-class, out-of-class and pre-professional learning experiences.
To meet their goals, students can take courses in art, music, English language arts, family and consumer science, health, languages other than English, mathematics, physical education, science, social studies, special education, and technology. Graduation requirements meet the NYSED recommendations of rigorous core academic training and inspiring elective options. With many support programs in place, students have all the resources they need to be successful members of the community who make positive contributions to society.

- Youth Court Offers More than Crime and Punishment - Students at Hudson Falls High School have the opportunity to be part of Youth Court, a system that tries peer defendants for code of conduct and legal infractions. The club also teaches students about civic duties. The Hudson Falls Youth Court takes place at the Hudson Falls Village Courthouse and is part of the National Association of Youth Courts.
- Student Led Association Builds Teamwork and Leadership - The Hudson Falls High School Student Council is a club that allows students to legislate and lead, regarding many school policies and functions. The body also creates service-learning opportunities, and encourages community involvement.
- Organization Helps Youth Make Positive Decisions - Students Against Destructive Decisions is a national association that inspires students to make constructive choices and guides them to challenge negative situations. Hudson Falls High School students have the opportunity to join their local chapter.

Many English courses teach a unit on business and professional writing, requiring students to create a few business letters and resumes. However, writing practice letters and resumes only a few times in high school will not be enough to meet realistic demands. Of course, students will write letters for college and job applications, and many institutions require a resume or C.V., but civic duty requires writing business-style letters in many facets. People write letters to their government officials to address grievances or ask for assistance. If someone has a complaint about a service, he or she should write a letter to the business, and the letter should be professional. To obtain the best employment, candidates must have resumes, C.V.s, and cover letters perfectly written, and formatting letters is just as important as grammar and spelling. Many classes in high school, and even middle school, should give students an opportunity to write such letters and resumes. Teachers should create activities that are applicable to real-world interactions.
