The Florida Sunshine State Standards offers a curriculum that strives to produce knowledgeable and sensible individuals. Required classes in mathematics, language arts, science, and social studies allow students to develop independent thinking skills, in addition to deepening their knowledge in these areas. In mathematics courses, students begin by learning about geometric shapes and basic processes of measurement. As they progress, more specific problem-solving methods are explored in a variety of topics, such as algebra, geometry, and statistics.

Chalk Talk: How to Write a Scholarship Essay

With rising tuition costs, many students now need financial aid to help pay for school. Loans accrue interest and may take a long time to pay back. Government and school grants are another option for financial aid but it has gotten much more difficult to qualify for them. Another option, and possibly the best one, is scholarships. Thousands of organizations and individuals are willing to give money to those who need it to pay for school and there is usually only a simple application to fill out. Some applications require essays that should be well written and thoughtful. Here are some tips to ensure that your essay is a winner: first, follow the instructions exactly. Essays that don’t follow formatting requirements or word count guidelines can be the deciding factor in whether your application is read or not. Since many scholarship organizations want to know what makes you a special individual, make sure that you focus on your strengths and mention detailed instances in which you overcame obstacles. Stating why your experiences have led you to apply for the scholarship can make your essay more personal.
