EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
As a math teacher, I believe there needs to be a balance between drill and practice, and inquiry based learning. Topics need to be relevant to real life so students can relate and retain the material. I try to have students employ Polya’s 4 step problem solving process in most cases.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I have a Bachelors degree in engineering from the University of Maine. I completed a graduate certificate in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts – Lowell, and I am currently working on a Masters degree in Education from the University of Maine.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I spent two years as an Education Technician working with special needs students in guided study halls. I then taught Mathematics at the high school level for six years. I have taught everything from Pre-Algebra to AP Calculus.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I am a father of two. I am also the high baseball coach as well as the math team coach. I am a basketball timekeeper/official, and I also play golf and baseball in my free time.
