EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
My philosophy of teaching and learning can be summarized as follows:
1. Effectively teach the material listed in the school’s State standards;
2. Do my best to present the material in on organized and interesting way;
3. Use effective time management in order to allow for focused learning and needed breaks.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Radio-Television-Film along with a Liberal Arts certificate in Business. I then went on to complete my Master’s Degree in Childhood Education. I am now a certified teacher in the state of New York.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been a music teacher, piano teacher, substitute teacher, software trainer and camp counselor. I come from a business career but I love teaching. I am very happy I completed my Master’s Degree in Education because teaching is something I have wanted to do for a long time.
I was a substitute teacher for Capital Region BOCES for over two years. During this time, I taught in various elementary, junior high, and high school classrooms. I volunteer by teaching 1st graders a religion class and have been doing this for five years. I have also given private piano lessons to children and adults.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I run, train for 5K and 10K races, garden, and play with my children. I love taking them to movies and playgrounds. I enjoy bike riding and nature walks. I also love to take pictures and short videos.
