EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe in meeting students where their needs are and helping them build confidence academically, socially, and mentally to help them succeed.
I also believe in providing real-life experiences for students to help them apply learning and become accountable for their learning. I believe praise is valuable for growth in learning. I personally enjoy helping students write and meet goals that will help them be not only successful students but successful people.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I started in school with an Associate’s in Business and realized my passion for children and teaching. I then started my Elementary Education degree in 2008, part-time as a single parent. When I graduated, I knew I wanted to continue seeking personal growth and continued into a Master’s program specifically in Instruction for Reading. Based on my experiences in education, I was finding many deficiencies in learning stemmed from deficiencies in reading and I want to work towards closing these gaps.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience started in a college setting. I then wanted to change settings and started working in a VPK classroom as the lead teacher, for three years, while I was attending school. Once I started my internship for my Bachelor’s degree, I was hooked and have been teaching third grade since then.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I participate in competitive Crossfit for exercise and health.I enjoy the challenge of performing next to individuals in my age range. I have a loving family that is actively involved in the community and sports. While at home, I enjoy reading and cooking.
