Chino District and Curriculum
The schools in Chino use a standards-based curriculum which provides a comprehensive framework for the teaching and learning across the subjects. For Math and Language Arts, the curriculum which is followed is the Common Core Standards. Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Chino District Curriculum
The Language Arts curriculum describes the skills and strategies for writing processes and goals, reading across subject areas, and other critical communication skills. The sub-topics that build this knowledge are further detailed. Teachers are able to create learning objectives that correspond to the curriculum and are aligned to state tests.
In Math, the curriculum explains what skills and strategies students will learn each year in math so they are prepared to tackle the more complex math content at high school. The Sciences describe the different major learning areas – earth and environmental science, biology, chemistry, physics – and enumerates the expectations for learning in these subjects. The design of the curriculum helps to unfold these subjects for students and build higher order thinking skills while doing so.

- District Awards - The Chino Valley Unified School District has earned an impressive number of awards as a district. Five schools have been named California Distinguished Schools, a range of awards for attendance and areas of educational excellence and the honoring of a volunteer with a Medal of Honor from the county.
- Community Focus - The students at Chino High School are bringing to life some interesting organizations for students to join. There are clubs focused on providing community needs like the Taking Initiative and the Take A Stance Clubs. These are unique ideas generated from within the school and the participation of future classmen will be needed to carry it on.
- Cultural Learning - Beyond the school day, students can enjoy culturally based learning experiences through the works of organizations like the Arabic Arts & Culture Club, the Spanish Club and the Christians on Campus Club. All of these open ideas, ways of seeing the world and other mind-broadening opportunities for the students of the district.
