EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
With my passion in creative writing and poetry, I have developed interpretive skills which will prove indispensable in the teaching profession. Interpretation, however, takes thought, preparation, educational tools, and determination. With careful consideration, both poetry and students can influence teachers in an unexpected way.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I studied English and Psychology at Saint Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, where I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in four years. I majored in English, and Minored in Psychology. Subsequently, I went on to Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, where I obtained my Bachelor of Education degree in one year. My division is Primary/Junior, and my focus was Educators Abroad. I am certified to teach in both Ontario and Nova Scotia.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Utilizing my adaptation skills, thinking under pressure, and experimenting with different teaching techniques, I found my own style to ensure success in the classroom. Although resources were limited, my lack of ESL experience and training did not hinder my ability to create individualized activities and materials, in addition to existing lesson plans, laser-focusing on student success. I worked individually and as a team to complete daily tasks such as progress reports, organize seminars to promote new ideas, and develop monthly curriculum and programs.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I am a Self-Help advocate, believing that true happiness lies within yourself. I read self help books everyday, learning more and more about myself and others, and the world around me. I love writing; short stories, poetry, and blogging inspirational messages to my fans who read my social media accounts. I also love to travel. I believe that true cultural experiences do not come from reading books or watching documentaries, but from experiencing them in person.
