EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
All children can learn, but not all children learn in the same way. Students also learn at different paces. I believe a teacher’s job is to support the unique needs of a child in a way that helps them be successful and develop confidence in their own abilities.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I currently hold three degrees: An Associates of Applied Sciences for Northeastern Jr. College, a Bachelor of Liberal Arts with an emphasis on Elementary Education from Colorado Christian University, and a Master’s of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from Colorado Christian University.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have ten years of teaching in the upper elementary 5th and 6th grades. Although I have taught all subjects well, reading, language, and writing instruction is definitely an area of strength. I have the ability to connect and encourage struggling learners, as well as, excite and challenge gifted learners. I utilize data to tailor instruction to student needs through the use of technology.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I am active in our local church, where I teach children’s church, and sit on the board of a mission group. My husband and I enjoy spending time traveling around the state, or to visit our college aged children. I enjoy gardening, and scrap booking in my free time.
