The Clinton Central School District curriculum provides students with developmentally appropriate instruction at all grade levels, preparing students for subsequent learning. In the primary grades, teachers engage students with fundamental learning activities, which help students develop social, emotional, and academic skills. The middle and high school curricula guide students toward post-secondary goals, preparing them for college and/or career. In accordance with the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and the adopted Common Core State Standards (CCSS), students receive a rigorous core academic education, leading them to acquire 21st century skills.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Kirkland District Curriculum
At Clinton High School, students have access to college and career preparatory coursework. To graduate, students must take English language arts social studies, science, mathematics, health education, foreign language, art and/or music, physical education, and electives. Electives options consist of courses in business, technology, and occupational education through the Oneida County BOCES Center. Additionally, students may take a number of Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
The Technology curriculum has expanded in recent years as it has become more of a subject of study. There is also a digital citizenship component to the curriculum that teaches students about privacy and online information safety. Students look at how the world has become far more globalized as a result of modern technology and how communication and the spread of ideas have been greatly facilitated. Additionally, students analyze how information is far more accessible now as a result of the Internet and easy access to devices such as computers, tablets, and mobile phones.

Chalk Talk: The Importance of Physical Education
The physical education curriculum seeks to help students develop an understanding of the physical activities and nutritional practices needed for an ideal level of fitness. In high school, students participate in a variety of individual and team sports and games that serve as both exercise and as a learning experience for staying active. Students learn about how physical activity promotes overall health, from improving mood to reducing the risk of diseases like diabetes. They explore various methods of staying fit, including game play, lifting weights, and eating right. Nutritional information is an important part of the curriculum as well. Students learn about the main food groups, including how much of each should be included in their daily diet. Foods that are harmful to one’s health are explored as well.
