Delhi Hills District and Curriculum
Delhi Hills is one of many communities served by the Cincinnati Public School system. Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Delhi Hills District Curriculum
The elementary level English language arts curriculum in Delhi Hills centers on helping students build a strong foundation for reading informational texts. Learners become adept at identifying questions related to a text they have read. Students learn how to read for critical information as well, including the main points and central details that support the author’s claims. They identify the means by which they can decipher unknown information, such as unfamiliar words and phrases.
Students utilize traditional means, such as dictionaries, as well as online tools to help them deepen their understanding of the unfamiliar. Children also learn how to utilize non-textual information in books in order to develop a clearer understanding of the topic. This includes examining illustrations, maps, charts, graphs, and photos. Students furthermore learn how to interpret literary tools such irony, sarcasm, and satire in order to determine the difference between what the author explicitly states and what he or she actually means. Learners analyze how authors treat certain topics differently as well.

- Veterans Day Honored at Westwood School - Vernon “Moon” Miller, a veteran of World War II, recently met with elementary school students. Mr. Miller participated in the invasion of France on D-Day and was at Westwood School to share his story. This was a great event that brought history to life for all involved.
- Chase School Named s a High Progress School of Honor - A member of the Cincinnati Public School System, Chase School, has been recognized by the Ohio Department of Education as a High Progress School of Honor. This speaks to the accomplishments of the administrators, teachers, students and their families for prioritizing academic excellence.
- Apps Developed to Assist STEM Learning Goals - A number of new apps were recently launched by Cincinnati Public Schools in order to promote STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) learning. The apps were developed in partnership with the Partnership for Innovation in Education and are available for students of all ages and skill levels.

E-textbooks expand the learning time and space, giving students the ability to study virtually anywhere so long as they have an internet connection. Many e-textbooks have built-in features like image galleries, videos, and links to websites that promote advanced learning skills and improve retention of the material. Students can also virtually highlight passages, dog-ear pages, and take notes. Additionally, e-textbooks help students become more proficient in the use of technology to complete their learning tasks, which is good preparation for working environments of the 21st century.
