Rehoboth District and Curriculum

Dighton Rehoboth Regional School District houses students who reside in the communities of Dighton and Rehoboth. Students use the Common Core Standards to guide their learning in Math and Language Arts and Massachusetts State Frameworks in other content areas. In all content areas at the elementary level, the district uses standards-based report cards based on rubrics to demonstrate students’ performance in each area. Students are given a score from one to four (lowest performance to highest) in each of the criteria for each content area. The work they progress to in middle and high school increases the complexity of the elementary topics.

We currently cover the following Rehoboth-area school district: Dighton Rehoboth Regional School District.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Rehoboth District Curriculum

Dighton Rehoboth Regional has fully implemented the Everyday Math program in grades PK-4. This comprehensive elementary-level math program—developed by the University of Chicago School Mathematics Program—has seen success all around the country, with it being used in 185,000 classrooms and by three million students nationwide. A key hallmark of the program is that it involves real-life problem solving; concepts are not taught in isolation but are connected to contexts relevant to students’ lives.

The program uses balanced instruction—both in terms of independent, partner, small-group, and whole-class work as well as open-ended, hands-on, and ongoing practice activities. Through this program, students are required to clearly and effectively communicate their mathematical thinking and understanding. Linked programs help parents keep track of what students are learning in Everyday Math in school as well as incorporate relevant activities at home. Parents are encouraged to engage their children in activities that promote their math literacy.
