EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Working as a collaborative team, adjusting activities and/or changing strategies when necessary is the most effective way to meet the needs of students. Recognizing and celebrating differences both in learning and in attempts to learn will instill confidence and develop a willingness to be more creative in any student which in turn enhances learning.
Clear, honest and respectful communication will establish a strong connection between teacher and student. This will allow the student to feel supported and the teacher to become a guide rather than the sole leader.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I went to the University of Western Ontario for my Honours Bachelor’s Degree in French and English. I then attended Lakehead University for my Bachelor’s Degree of Education, as well as teaching French as a second language (FSL) Part 1. I also took FSL Part 2. I attend workshops on specific activities that will enhance the individual learning of my students.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I am a regular elementary classroom teacher with 23 years of experience in a variety of assignments and responsibilities from Grade 2/3 through to Grade 8, including some French as a Second Language experiences from Grades 1-8.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Over the past 2 summers I coached a U12 Boys Rep Soccer Team. I am currently an “at large” trainer for the PMHA. I am a member of a coed volleyball team.
