EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I teach with the expectation that each of my students will succeed. I reward with positive reinforcements while offering a challenging curriculum. I am aware that students have various learning styles that require a specialized curriculum that addresses their needs and strengths.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with 30 hours plus in professional development. I then became a National Board Certified Teacher EA Math for ten years. My professional training included Applied Mathematics and Inquiry-based lessons; Alternative Assessment – Begin with Assessment; Writing in the Mathematics classroom; Hands On Equations and various manipulative models; Teaching Algebraic and Geometric lessons with food; Brain Research and Multiple Intelligences; Technology Training – Larson’s Math, Skillsbank, Tom Snyder Software, InteractiveWeb; Differentiated Teaching; Career Development; Graphing Calculators; ETV Streamline SC Training; Math Curriculum Mapping; Learning Focus Model Training.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have 28 years of experience as middle school class room teacher in public school in South Carolina.I was a fifteen-year member of the South Carolina Council of the Teachers of Mathematics. This state organization is affiliated with NCTM. I was an eight-year member of the National Middle School Association.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I am an AKC Dog Show Judge and breeder. I’m also presently enrolled in graduate classes to add online teaching endorsement to my teacher’s certificate.
