EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
As a lifelong learner, I bring an inquisitive, positive and energetic approach to everything I do. My role as an educator is as a facilitator of learning. I value relationship, and creating a healthy classroom community; diversity and individuality of learners is foremost in my classroom practice. A sense of wonder and curiosity are key aspects to an engaged learning experience.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I have had an extensive journey in learning about science and the world around us. My early University experiences brought me knowledge centered around chemistry and mathematics. Later I have focused on biology, mainly ecosystems and microbiology, with some animal physiology. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Education. I am a certified teacher in British Columbia.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching over the last few years and really enjoy working with my high school science classes. It is always a pleasure to watch these students grow and learn and expand their thinking to the next innovators of tomorrow.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I have an extensive list of extracurricular interests. I have a love of the outdoors, which brings me camping, fishing, and hiking. I have an artistic side which I express doing crafts, drawing and participating in community theater. I enjoy healthy eating and natural medicine and spend some of my time learning more about them. My absolute favourite is working part time as a biologist whenever I can.
