EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe that every learner has the capabilities to be successful in the classroom. Learning exceptionalities or learning differences should not be a hindrance to success. I believe that minds-on, hands-on learning allows for students to enjoy learning again.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I completed my undergraduate degree in English Literature Studies with additional focus in History at the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario. I have completed a graduate degree (undergraduate) in Education from Wilfrid Laurier University. I have also completed my Special Education Part 1 Additional Qualification from Lakehead University.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I volunteered as a high school music teaching associate at Glenview Park Secondary School where I tutored students one-on-one in woodwind instruments. I have completed three supervised practicums in the Waterloo Region District School Board. I have also taught Judo at the Cambridge YMCA.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I played soccer all throughout high school and elementary school and have assisted in coaching the house league soccer association in Cambridge, Ontario. I enjoy weight training and playing numerous sports. I have coached wrestling in junior/intermediate division and been a volunteer Judo coach and lifeguard at the YMCA in Cambridge. Other extracurricular activities I enjoy are reading, writing and board games; in fact, I started a board game club at my practicum placement this year.
