EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
When I hear the words, educational philosophy I like to think of an evolving idea. I do not think mine will ever stay the same, because it will change with each different child that will enter my classroom. My educational philosophy will also change and alter as I gain more experience and education, which (in teaching) will never fully end.
Although, I do believe that certain aspects of my philosophy will change, there are still some stabilizing factors. I believe that every child deserves a chance, no matter their disability, temperament or misfortunes. I will treat every child equally, and always ensure that they are striving to their full potential, no matter what. I believe that children come into this world as innocent human beings, and the effects that they sustain from people and events that occur in their lives, shape and change them into who they eventually become.
I believe that a teacher has just as much of an impact on students as parents do. I want to always have a positive affect on anyone that steps foot inside my classroom, but especially my students. I believe that children need many positive role models in their lives. I plan to have a substantial influence on my students lives, both in and out of the classroom.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and then went on to receive my Master’s Degree in Education. I am a certified teacher in the state of Connecticut.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have experience student teaching, teaching and tutoring students both in small environments and in one-on-one cases as well.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I played basketball for 9 years, but decided to stop playing my sophomore year of high school because I received a job at the Wallingford Family YMCA, as an after-school provider. I enjoy all kinds of sports, and I have a passion for reading. I plan to be extremely active in my school community and any way I can help out, I will. I have had past experience running a multicultural language arts/reading/art program after-school, and I would love the opportunity to do that again.
