EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I have always believed that every student has a strength: something positive he/she brings to the classroom. Each person has a talent that enhances the learning experience; it is those talents that make learning enjoyable. When those talents and strengths are encouraged then the students (and teachers) thrive.
As a tutor, my goal is to uncover and help develop those strengths as a way to show
students how much they truly have to offer.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2005 with a BA in English. After graduation, I joined the Peace Corps where I taught English as a Second Language in the country of Ukraine. Since returning from the Peace Corps in 2008 I have continued to volunteer as a tutor with after-school programs for grade school and adult students.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
In my free time, I love baking and cooking, trying (and tasting!) new recipes and techniques. My husband and I also enjoy traveling to new or favorite places. Our current favorite spot is Maine because of its mild weather and fresh seafood.
When I’m not cooking or traveling, I am spending time with family and friends, playing with our two cats, watching a movie or enjoying a little retail therapy.
