EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
With the vast diversity of students in today’s classrooms, I believe that the differentiated classroom allows for students of all ability levels to challenge themselves and reach their full potential. Using a child-centered approach, any teacher can unlock a child’s full potential by using their strengths to their advantage as well as working on their weaknesses together.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I have a M.Ed (Curriculum, Teaching and Learning) with a focus on Language and Literacy Studies through the Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN). I have a B.Ed (Prim/Elem) with a focus on math through MUN. I also am a certified Early Childhood educator (Entry Level- Pre School and Level 3- School Age) through the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Newfoundland.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Through these past number of years, I have had the opportunity to teach diverse groups of students, including those with
learning disabilities, at grade level, and gifted/exceptional. As a result, I became proficient at designing creative and stimulating lesson plans which accommodated multiple intelligence and kept students interested and focused. I first model the appropriate and expected appropriate classroom behaviour and I set firm and consistent boundaries. I worked as a grade one and two substitute teacher in Newfoundland, and a kindergarten teacher in Doha, Qatar. Also, I worked as a substitute teacher in Bristol, UK for Reception to year 6.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
During my time at Lourdes Elementary, I organized and ran a science club for grade one to three students. We did age-appropriate science activities and had monthly meetings. I once ran an after-school soccer club for
students from kindergarten to grade three.
