I would like to establish a clear statement of what my beliefs about teaching and learning are and present my vision of best practice in education. I believe the purpose of today’s schools should include the provision of a safe and comfortable environment. They should provide an environment that is conducive for learning and free of distractions that will take away from the learning experience. To encourage this environment, I am firm but just and consistent in my actions of both discipline and grading. I demand respect from my students and in return demand it upon my self to give respect back to them.
I spent four years at Purdue University studying Chemical Engineering plus three years in Mathematical Education earning my Bachelors in Mathematics Education in 2009. During my studies at Purdue University, I learned proper classroom management, obtained my educational philosophies, and gained my passion for teaching.
I have taught at the high school level for six years and at the middle school level for four years. I have had a focus in mathematics including: seventh grade honors, eighth grade Algebra I, Geometry, STEM and Probability and Statistics. I have also taught Computer Tech Support for one year.
I have coached Middle School and High School girls softball for six years. I have served on the Teacher’s Association Bargaining & Discussion Committees. Currently, I serve on technology committees which permit me to have a key role in implementation of technologies at Rossville Consolidated Schools.
