EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I think that all children should be given an opportunity to learn and to reach their potential. Sometimes, in order to reach that potential, one on one help is needed. This can make learning personal and fun for the student, which I believe should be one of the goals of education.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I have a Bachelor of Arts in English and History from Memorial University of Newfoundland. I received the Dean’s List award for academic excellence in the third year of that degree. I went on to complete my Bachelor of Education (Intermediate/Secondary) from the same university. That degree included a three month teaching work term, where I got to teach and work with students on a daily basis. I am certified as a teacher in Newfoundland and Labrador, with certification pending in Nova Scotia. I am currently a substitute teacher in Halifax, NS.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I completed a three month teaching internship in a high school during my education degree. During that time, I taught subjects ranging from English, to Ethics and Religion. I am currently substitute teaching in Halifax, NS.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I have been involved in after school youth groups for several years, both as a student and in a leadership capacity. When I was in high school, I was involved in activities such as student council, drama club, and volleyball. I also taught piano lessons for two years.
