EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe in helping students question, create, discover and think. I believe in looking at what individual students need and differentiating instruction based on those needs. I believe in creating a learning environment where students feel respected and safe. I believe that I am just a part of the learning community and need to work with other members of that community.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I completed my undergraduate degree at McMaster University in Honours English. I then attended Brock University to complete my Bachelor of Education. During the course of my career of I have complete several additional qualifications. I have Special Education Part 1, Kindergarten Part 1 and my Reading specialist.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I am an occasional teacher with the District School Board of Niagara and the Sunday School Coordinator for my church. In my roles I plan, organize and implement lessons for students from age 2 to grade 8. I take into account student needs and differentiate my lessons based on the needs I see. I have had the opportunity to have a number of Long Term Occasional positions including Kindergarten, grade 2, 3, 4, and 5.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I have been involved in coaching basketball and cross country. I co-planned a Trunk or Treat for our community. I had the opportunity to run a Blue Spruce book club giving students the chance to read and vote on books they loved. In my free time I run and attend yoga classes.
