EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe students should have a teacher and mentor that shows them the relevance of what they are studying in everyday life. Students should be able to apply what they are learning in one subject to other subjects they are studying. I believe in introducing students to a variety of resources to solve their problems. Students should also be taught in multiple different styles to enable them to find a manner of learning that works best for them.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I attended the University of California, Irvine and was a part of their competitive biological sciences program. This program is the most popular at the university. I graduated with a degree in Biological Sciences and I plan to teach high school biology. I am currently in the process of applying to post graduate programs to begin my teaching credential process.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I worked as a supervisor for student workers in a math tutoring classroom. I assisted primarily with algebra 1 coursework, including study groups for quizzes and tests, as well as with students completing online math courses. I am currently working as an Educational Assistant for a summer program targeted at incoming freshmen to prepare them for high school math and science.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I enjoy track and field tremendously; I ran track in high school and started coaching while in college. I have coached high school track and field in California for 6 years and hope to do so again in Oregon. I also enjoy attending track meets at Historic Hayward Field in Eugene, including the US Olympic Trials. Other than that I also enjoy keeping active by cycling, hiking, weight lifting and yoga.
