EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Through my years of working with children, especially at-risk youth, I have learned that each child has the desire to learn; however, each child also has their own unique learning style. As educators we have the responsibility to help children identify their learning style in order to help them succeed. Through encouragement and a little trial and error we can help each child reach their best potential.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Beginning in high school I had the strong desire to work with children. With this in mind I worked through high school and university with the intent of being a teacher. Through my years working and volunteering with children I have learned that being a teacher is not a classroom only experience. I strive to meet children where they are and help them learn using language and experience that is relative to them.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree with a double major in English and History at Carleton University and then went on to the University of Ottawa to receive my Bachelor’s Degree in Education. I am an Ontario Certified Teacher.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have experience both working in a classroom environment and also helping students in one-on-one cases.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I have interests in reading, cooking, arts and crafts and travelling. These are the things I pursue in my spare time. I am a military wife and currently adjusting to a new city.
