EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
My educational philosophy is that multiple intelligences exist. Some students require hands on experiences, some visual, and others auditory associations. All of these perspectives are needed to create a diverse and interesting world that values all students.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
During my last year of high school I took several college courses at Solano Community College. I continued to attend this institution for a year after graduating from high school. I then transferred to the University of California, Davis and graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology and Mathematics.
I am currently teaching math to at-risk teenagers and working on a Masters of Arts in School Counseling at American Public University online.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have experience as a tutor at the undergraduate level for Algebra, Chemistry, and English. After I graduated, I began working as a Math Teacher for high school students. I have been successfully teaching math for 15 years. I believe that every student needs a patient tutor and I also specialize in students with math anxiety. I am willing to work with students to build their confidence and understanding of math.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I organize the SATs and proctor as I am needed at local high schools. I also organize activities for at-risk teenagers.
Additionally, I enjoy archery and kayaking. I also explore relationships between art and mathematics through books and the internet.
