EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe that every individual has the potential to excel when given the right system of support. As an educator, I strive to empower each student with the confidence in their own capacity to understand and achieve even the most difficult of subject matters.
Students derive greater meaning from their education when given the opportunity to apply their knowledge to relevant life situations, therefore I aim to help each person to place what they learn in greater context. Quality, supportive education is a right for every individual, and a requirement for success and fulfillment in the world that we live in.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I earned a Bachelor of Arts from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada, in Global Development Studies and Dramatic Arts. I was enrolled at the same time in a concurrent education program, where I gained valuable experience through teaching practicums at schools in Canada and abroad. Upon graduation, I elected to continue studies in a Master’s program in Curriculum Studies and Teacher Development, where I could further hone my passion for teaching and education.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have experience teaching and training teachers in over 20 countries around the world. I have taught all subject areas equivalent to an intermediate / secondary requirement, including language arts, reading, writing, ESL, science, mathematics and social studies. My work in teacher training has also focused on aspects of pedagogy and program development.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I have carried out extensive volunteer work with youth in diverse communities. Programs include a focus on service to the community, arts, recreation, and literacy. I also have a strong interest in music, drama, and arts, which I pursue in my personal time.
