EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Students learn best when they ask the questions. It is important to understand math not just memorize an algorithm for doing it. In math, just as in sports, practice is important to lock in a skill and understanding. Just because something makes sense to the teacher doesn’t mean it will to the student. Watch for when the light comes on for the student.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Michigan University in Math and a minor in Computer Science. I also received a secondary teaching certificate. Subsequent to this, I also received my Master’s Degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in Math.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have taught math at many different grade levels and enjoy working with my students and watching them excel.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I enjoy walking and hiking in a nearby nature center or state park. I also enjoy gardening and taking care of animals in my 2-acre lot. My most important activity is home-schooling my son.
