EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe that teaching is a calling of the mind and heart and that appropriate positive regard yields an attitude of positivity that increases any students ability to learn. If I can’t totally change a students outlook on his/her educational experience, I hope to improve it immensely.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I am a career changer after working for 13 years in sales. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Mercer University in Atlanta and my Master’s Degree in Education from American InterContinental University in Atlanta. But I have to say that I’ve learned the most from my students.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I’ve volunteered for many years in both elementary and middle schools and have worked as a paraprofessional with children with disabilities. I’ve been in the role of music teacher and more recently as English Language Arts teacher.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I taught music at two Charter schools where I wrote a Holiday Musical to teach my students about diversity within our school, community and our world. I served as coordinator for SGA and had the pleasure of introducing students to the voting and election process.
