EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
As an educator, it is my duty to encourage the growth and the future stability of education. One of the reasons I decided to pursue a career in education was not only to follow in the footsteps of the educators in my family, but for the opportunity to work with future generations, to help mold them and inspire them to keep the educational “flame burning”.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I am a 2002 and 2009 College of Education graduate of the University of Memphis, with a Masters of Arts in Teaching and an Education Specialist degree in Instruction and Curriculum Leadership. I am a 1998 graduate of Bethel College in McKenzie, TN with a B.A. in English Literature. In 2011, I completed an endorsement in Professional School Counseling from Freed-Hardeman University. I am currently working on receiving my Masters in English and Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I taught in the Memphis City Schools for nine and a half years before moving to Georgia and teaching at an online virtual school. I taught there for two years. I taught 9th, 11th, and 12th grade English.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
My current activity includes raising my 1 year old daughter. I am also working on improving my piano playing. It has long been a dream to be a published writer so I spend time writing and have even written something of a children’s book, but it is a work in progress.
