EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Education is about creating an environment that allows students to maximize their creative potential. In this respect, I am dedicated to helping students discover their strengths in order to achieve their goals.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I graduated with a Honours, Bachelor of Arts in English and Comparative Literature from McMaster University. Also from McMaster University, I pursued a Master’s degree in English. I am a graduate of the Bachelor of Education program from Brock University, specializing in teaching the Junior and Intermediate levels. I am also certified by the Ontario College of Teachers.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I was employed as a Teaching Assistant at McMaster University, where I facilitated tutorials for second year university undergraduates in Modern British Literature. During my practicum I was a student teacher at an inner city school, where I taught Language Arts and History to Grade 7 students.
During my second practicum, I was a student teacher of elementary school subjects for a split Grade 4 and 5 class. I have also had substantial experience teaching ESL, as I worked as an ESL tutor for international students, and taught at an ESL summer camp.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I enjoy reading and writing. I also love to take walks and bake. My fascination with words has resulted in a keen interest in Scrabble and other word games.
