EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Students need to be taught how to reason out answers to questions in the classroom and in life. Today, too many teachers are concerned with how their students will perform on state standardized testing. I believe if you teach the students what they need to know to be successful in school and life, the test scores will reflect that.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from East Tennessee State University and then received my Master’s Degree in Teaching. I am licensed teacher in the state of Tennessee.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
For the last 13 years I have taught homebound students (primarily high school) through the local school system. These students have been placed on medical leave by a physician because they are unable to attend their classes. I take gather their work from the classroom teachers and instruct them in their homes. Prior to that, I taught middle school grammar for 7 years in the classroom.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I am a runner. I like to race competitively in local events. I enjoy all distances up to the half-marathon. Jokingly, I tell people I run to clear the “stupid” from my head.
