About Me
SUBJECTS
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe in motivating students to learn by creating lessons that are fun, interesting and meaningful. Techniques I use include flipping the classroom, project-based learning and inquiry learning.
School is all about the student thus any teaching or tutoring I do is student centered. I strive to find out what makes each student tick and then build lessons or projects based on those interests.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I have a MA in English (TESL) from Colorado State University and a BA in Public relations from Southern Adventist University. I also studied massage therapy and am certified as a massage therapist.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching for the last five years. I started my teaching career at a bilingual school in Honduras and then moved to Colorado where I continued to teach ESL. I have taught language arts, ESL, social studies and life skills.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I love outdoor activities. I’m always looking for an adventure of some kind whether it be rock climbing, biking, camping or white water kayaking. I also enjoy playing soccer (football). In addition to outdoor activities, I like to cook food from different cultures and of course, eat it!
