About Me
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe in being a facilitator of education (a tutor/coach), and working closely with the student to achieve his or her educational goals to the best of my teaching ability.
I like to present lessons in different ways, so that my student can learn to critically think and analyze the subject matter, which in turn, makes for a better critical thinker. My reward is knowing that I have given 100% to the student and that he or she is learning and grades are being lifted by the collaborative relationship between tutor and student.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from New Mexico State University. I have participated in a Spanish immersion program in Mexico for a summer as well. I recently completed a computer course, Computer Operations, this past year online through Pueblo Community College.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I am a K-12 substitute teacher. I also tutor students in Spanish, math, grammar, reading, writing, and test preparation. I have learned many classroom management strategies during the past year of substitute teaching. I know how to effectively work with and understand students.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I like Zumba Gold dance. I enjoy taking long walks with my dogs. I like to cook and read. I am a shopper, and a fashionista of sorts, which is also fun. I like antiquing and visiting museums as well.
