EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
My teaching philosophy has changed over the course of my teaching career through my experiences with individual students. When I began teaching, I found scaffolding techniques based on Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development extremely helpful.
While I still believe that students benefit from scaffolding learning techniques, I have discovered that each student may require a different aspect of a teacher’s personality when learning, so flexibility is key in all interactions.
As an educator, I want to guide students into the writing community and through the writing process and provide the feedback and reassurance they need to grow as writers.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I received my Masters in English in 2008. Although I focused on American Literature and Rhetoric & Composition, I also studied Creative Writing. I constantly search for new ways to teach writing techniques and to make writing and reading enjoyable for students.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I always dreamed of leaving home to join the circus, and while I never ran away and became a circus performer, I did eventually learn to fly! During my leisure time, I dance on aerial hoop (lyra) and silks (tissu).
