EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe education is one of the most important tools a person can have in life. Every child deserves to receive the best education possible, regardless of special needs. Gaining necessary life skills and learning how to relate and communicate with people from different walks of life is imperative to the academic growth and success of any student.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Cognitive Development and then went on to receive my Master’s Degree in Learning Disabilities. I am currently a certified teacher in the state of Michigan.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I recently retired as a special education teacher for over 29 years. I have taught in an inclusion setting as well as a resource room setting. My students have ranged from kindergarten to 8th grade.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Every year I would either put on one or two full length plays or a talent show at the end of the year. The plays were open to all students (general education and special education). The students were responsible for learning their lines, set decoration, costumes, and advertising.
