EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
An effective teacher is a lifelong student, seeking knowledge and passing this belief onto students. The complexity of science is what I consider the last frontier for exploration, and I would like to shape and influence the next generations of potential explorers by supplying the knowledge and techniques to answer compound scientific questions. Inspiring a love of knowledge creates a lifelong desire within the subjects.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I am a qualified scientist with 11 years in an academic setting, where I have gained a plethora of knowledge in the areas of biology, genetics, cell biology, virology, immunology, DNA, and mathematics.
I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Mathematics and then went on to complete my Doctorate Degree in Microbiology and Immunology. I am hoping to gain additional teaching experience at the collegiate level and aspire to influence the next generation of life scientist.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have work as a biology lab instructor at the undergraduate and graduate level. I have also tutored graduate level classes in biochemistry, cell biology and genetics.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I enjoy staying active while enjoying nature through jogging, hiking, kayaking, and biking. Community involvement is a high priority. I have volunteered for the Veteran Affairs hospital Emergency Department, the Virginia Arts Festival, and supported various cancer research fundraisers.
