EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
My approach to teaching begins with building a relationship based on trust, respect and communication. Though each individual may be at a different level of development, I believe each of my students has the potential to not only understand the course content but also to exceed in their own way. It is my responsibility as an educator to guide and encourage this potential in a way that is meaningful to each student.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I have a Bachelor of Fine Art, Major in Media Art from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, a Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of Western Ontario and a Masters of Fine Art from the University of Guelph.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
As a librarian, I regularly assist with homework help for elementary and high school students, both in person and online. For university students, I lead workshops in database research and assisted with many research projects. As a TA, I led first year university art classes.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I am an artist and have participated in numerous exhibitions throughout the country. I travel often and have visited many of the world’s best art museums. In addition to my own artistic pursuits, I volunteer for an art gallery in Hamilton where I help program exhibitions and special events.
