EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I want create lessons that peak my class’ interest, inspire them, develop independence, so that not only do they learn but become life-long learners.I like to be creative and take risks with my lessons, it does not always work but it helps me reflect, re-evaluate, and adapt my plan. I need to build relationships and get to know each individual child, then develop my teaching according to them. I believe that a teacher is there to teach second and care first; if the teacher does not care, the child will not care.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
My interest in teaching began at a young age but I realized I wanted to pursue teaching when I starting working closely with students through tutoring. From there I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in English then went into education to complete my B.Ed. Since then, I have been a substitute teacher in both the Louis Riel and Winnipeg School Division.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience begins with tutoring students in reading and comprehension. During my practicum, I taught kindergarten and grade one. Since graduation, I have not let my early years specialty restrict what grades I substitute; I have substituted grades K-12.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
While in the Faculty of Education I was on student council both year. First year I was an early years representative and second year I was the co-graduation chair. During my practicums I helped out with their concerts, created an art club, and attended PDs.
