EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Teaching is and forever will be my passion. My philosophy is holistic and I strive to integrate multiple intelligences, Bloom’s Taxonomy and strive to differentiate learning for each learner. I am skilled in technology and use it in a variety of ways to enhance student learning. And finally I establish regular and clear communications with students and home.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I received my Bachelor of Arts (with honours and a Teaching Preparation Specialization) from the University of Waterloo where I majored in Fine Art. My Bachelor of Education came from the Schulich School of Education at Nipissing University in the Intermediate and Senior divisions with English and Visual Arts as my teachable subject areas. I will be receiving my Additional Basic Qualification for teaching in the Primary Division this fall (2015) from Nipissing University.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have recently completed teaching abroad in England teaching visual arts. Before that I was a Pre-service teacher at two schools. For both of these placements I taught English to a range of grades and destinations, planning, implementing and analyzing lessons, units and assessments.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
While working at one high school, I organized an after school art club for students to stay back and take part in extra art activities. As well while on teaching placement I began a noon hour guitar club for students to come to play and perform.
