I believe in a multimodal model of learning. Utilizing resources that aren’t limited to just the written text is a way of reaching out to students whose comfort level with written words is limited. It is also a belief of mine that we are not just conditioning students to obtain advanced degrees or succeed in business, but are ultimately responsible for our students’ personal development as well. It is the job of the instructor to be a good role model and also introduce students to characters and experiences that help forge young people into good citizens.

I attended Eastland High School and graduated with a 3.3 GPA. I then attended Florida Southern College, where I majored in English: writing and was vice president of the English honorary society. Afterward, I attended Columbia College Chicago’s Masters of Fine Arts in creative writing: poetry program and graduated with a 3.9 GPA.

I used a multimodal classroom environment to instruct a semester long undergraduate course on writing and rhetoric as a graduate student instructor at Columbia College Chicago. I was also a writing tutor at Florida Southern College.

I am working on a novel and several collections of poetry. I also engage in digital photography and always attend local events in support of worthwhile organizations.

I received a 28 on the ACT.
