Another goal of elementary school is to achieve the goals of balanced literacy. The goals is that students can read by themselves, in order to support the learning across content areas, make connections between content areas. and be lifelong learners.

The Science curriculum emphasizes the ways in which scientists study and observe natural phenomenon, the processes for testing hypotheses, and communicating their findings. During the early years, students are able to explore earth sciences, life sciences, and physical science. They will have mastered basic concepts such as matter and energy, natural forces, and the interaction of ecosystems so that they are ready for a deeper and more advanced study of these topics in high school.
