Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Sanger District Curriculum

In Science, students are introduced to Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, and schools are increasing their offerings in Engineering, Technology and Design, and Environmental Sciences. The curriculum has a focus on developing the process-oriented thinking of investigation and experimentation. Technology is a part of the Science curriculum and also integrated into daily classroom experiences.

Language Arts is designed to support all learning by providing foundational language and communication skills. Students are expected to be able to take away meaning from texts of all sorts, and to express themselves in writing for varying purposes. Writing is central to the curriculum and the development of a process that includes revising and editing is a curricular goal. Students are also expected to learn grammar usage, language conventions, and other structural knowledge about the language.

Sanger District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs

The schools in Sanger use a curriculum that is nationally recognized for producing students who have breadth and depth in subject area knowledge. The Common Core Standards describe the expected learning outcomes for students in Math and Language Arts, and the California Content Standards are used for all other subjects.

In Math, the curriculum emphasizes problem-solving strategies including the use of computational tools, ways of analyzing data, and the use of manipulatives and models of mathematic thinking. Goals of the curriculum are to teach precision, decision-making in problem-solving activities, and the ability to reason using quantitative measures.

We currently cover the following Sanger-area school district: Sanger Unified School District.
