Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Amarillo District Curriculum
The Reading curriculum in Amarillo begins by teaching students how to read stories. This is done using a variety of sources, from books to eBooks and more. Beginning in early elementary, students see how reading can assist them in other subject areas as well. In fifth grade, students build on these reading skills even more as they begin to identify authors, characters, setting and theme in a non-fiction book. About this time students also learn how to visualize the text they are reading into pictures in their minds.
Mathematics also plays a part in various subjects of study. Amarillo Schools start by showing students that objects can use numbers to represent them when they are counting. They also learn about place values of numbers so they can read, write, compare and order numbers. When they have mastered these number skills they are ready to learn how to place numbers in equations to solve problems in science, social studies or even reading. view all Amarillo tutors

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!
Our daughter, a first grader, struggled with basic reading and handwriting. When she began with SchoolTutoring she was almost a year behind her class. Within a year of being enrolled, she is reading above her grade level and has the confidence to match.
