Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Ardmore District Curriculum

In Mathematics, the teachers incorporate technology into the teaching of many concepts of math. Technology is used in the forms of educational websites, using Smartboards that allow the students to manipulate math concepts virtually, through the utilization of iPods and iPads and the various applications that focus on mathematics, and much more. Technology in mathematics is used from the primary grades up into the secondary grades.

In English Language Arts, standards include methods of research. Students are exposed to research for a purpose, such as researching a topic that interest them. Students, when researching, are taught how to find websites and articles that are credible and valid, and they are taught how to differentiate between primary, secondary, and tertiary sources. The learners are also taught how to organize and develop their research paper from beginning to the final draft.

Chalk Talk: The Role of the Student Council

Student Council does many great things for the school. Student Council Association, or SCA, has members such as President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and the members. The SCA organizes school events, such as dances, fund raisers, after school activities, and more. They meet usually monthly (depending on the school) and discuss ways to raise money for the school or what events the students would like to participate in. Schools appreciate their SCA members!
