Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Attalla District Curriculum
Attalla is focused on their pupils' attainment of knowledge in the core areas of Reading, Writing, History and Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science. The courses, once the students reach the high school level, are leveled by specific focus areas, such as Chemistry, Algebra, Trigonometry, World History, Honor's English, and much more. There are many opportunities for various classes and choices that the students can make, and it all begins in the primary grades within the core subjects and according to the State Standards of Alabama.
The core academic subjects offered are enriched by the electives that are also offered in the system. It is through students opportunities to explore Art, Business, Computers, Media and other topics that they are able to make connections between what they are learning and how it connects to the world around them. Additionally, students are often able to find their unique interests within electives, and recognize the value of their core learning as providing the path to future career pursuits.
