Chalk Talk: How to Get Enough Sleep During the School Year
With so many studies showing the importance of getting enough sleep as a student, the question arises: how can that sleep time be accommodated? There are many ways to help students get enough sleep. One of them is making sleep a priority. If there are too many activities scheduled for your student to get enough sleep, maybe those need to be cut back. If TV, movies, cell phones, video games, and other distractions are a problem, taking them out of students’ bedrooms and putting them in public areas where they can be more controlled could be the solution. If homework consistently keeps students up to excessive hours, perhaps a conversation with their teachers to find out what is going on would be appropriate. Perhaps your student is not using their time wisely, and some guidance for more efficient studying or careful explanation of what is actually required on an assignment would be helpful.
